VIDEO: Parrot's AR.Drone 2.0 (Version 2) Showcased at CES Unveiled 2012

Tech fanatics certainly wouldn’t have forget the initial version of Parrot AR.Drone unveiled at CES 2010. The quadrocopter robot was tremendously efficient, controlled via an app on your smartphone to float in the air, amazingly stable on four rotors.

Parrot's AR.Drone 2.0 (Version 2) Showcased at CES Unveiled 2012
Now come to the latest version of the gadget introduced today at CES Unveiled i.e. AR.Drone 2.0, which added a new set of upgrades that made the gadget even smarter.

The original version of AR.Drone needed a skilful expert, because there was a serious learning curve in order to get good at flying it, but latest version AR.Drone 2.0 is much easier to control. It uses the compasses in both your controller and the Drone to make sure "forward" is always the direction you think it is, unlike before when it was easy to confuse its orientation.

Just tilt the tablet or phone with the toy’s partner app on it away from your body, and the drone zooms away. Tilting towards you makes the drone draw nearer—there’s no learning curve to playing with it.

It's now better-built and much stronger (apparently a few users had some destructive learning experiences with the initial version), and Parrot also added an HD camera that records 720p footage, which can be delivered right to your phone or tablet using Wi-Fi.

The manufacturers have also updated the apps that you need to fly the Drone, supplementing lots of video sharing features, plus a social network of sorts that lets you see who else is flying their Drone nearby.

Though there’re no official words on the availability; but it is rumored that the AR.Drone 2.0 will be available in the second quarter of 2012. But the good news is that it will have the same $299 price tag as the original.

WINGStand by Kickstarter Project - - Transforms Your Keyboard into an iPad Stand

Getting a wireless keyboard was one of the best ideas you had for your Bluetooth devices right? That is, until they made a keyboard dock that essentially does the same thing, only a little bit better. The only thing is that you aren’t going to want to spend more money on another keyboard if you already have one, just because it holds your device up like a stand. An ingenious new Kickstarter project that will be hitting production soon will both fix your keyboard/stand problems, and make sure you don’t have to break the bank to do so.

WINGStand by Kickstarter Project

The WINGStand is a very cleverly designed bit of plastic that can hold up your Bluetooth device like a monitor for your wireless keyboard. It just snaps on to the back part of the keyboard and sits so it is at an ideal angle to type with. If you get in this project before it’s Kickstarter time limit ends, and pledge $20, you can have your very own WINGStand when they hit production. Every additional $15 after the initial $20 will be another one that they will send you.

Kandenchi designer mouse: Odd-looking with first look but promises more comfort as time passes

There are all sorts of computer mice out there. Some are in different colors, and some are built to fit to your specific hand size. The Kandenchi designer mouse however, was built after the design and shape of a battery. It sits upright and has very basic mouse functions such as a left and right click, and a wheel.

Kandenchi designer mouse: Odd-looking with first look

I would think this new mouse would take some time to get used to, and wouldn’t be very comfortable after long term use. Having to hold up your wrist higher than normal and at a different angle would be a little tough to adjust to, but may be more comfortable over time. If you’re wanting to find out for yourself, they will cost $65 and will be on the market through Elecom in October. But keep in mind that this moues is only compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS 10.5 and up.

Wall Projection Scale - - An Easy Way to Keep Check on Your Weight

Scales are interesting devices. You stand on them, then look down to your feet to see what you weigh. If you’re nice and trim, you won’t have any issues seeing what the numbers say. However, there are those people out there that can’t easily see between their feet because of their weight. To get around this issue, one can purchase the Wall Projection Scale.

Wall Projection Scale

This device operates much like any ordinary scale. The difference is that your weight will be projected onto the wall in front of you, making the numbers very easy to read. This is not only beneficial for those who are battling a beer gut, but also for people who have poor eyesight. The display can be set to show the numbers at a height of between 2 and 6 feet on the wall. If this sounds like something you’d like, you’ll need to shell out $70 for one.

Vivitar 690HD Pocket Cam - - Enjoy Underwater Video Shooting Being Within Your Budget

It’s pretty easy to record video footage these days. Almost every phone can do it, and since most people aren’t more than a few feet from their cell at any time, you can bet that there’s always a camera around. However, if you want to shoot some video underwater, you’ll have a little more difficulty. After all, the worst thing you can do to a camera is drop it in water (well, a blender might be a little worse). For these times, you might consider the Vivitar 690HD Pocket Cam.

This rather boring-looking 720p camera would fall into the realm of “ordinary” if not for its amphibious nature. All you’ll need is an SD card (it only comes with a paltry 8MB of internal memory) and you’ll be ready to venture into the depths of the sea (or at least the pond out back). What’s really interesting is that you will only have to spend $60 on this gadget. If you’re wanting to shoot underwater without spending a lot of cash, I’d say this is the way to go.

Hi-tech UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box - - To increase fundraising using mobile technology

This year is going to ring in a new wave of charity options when it comes to the Halloween season thanks to the new and improved UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box. It has officially received a high-tech upgrade via an embedded Microsoft chip that allows potential donators to give even more online than they traditionally do through the availability of loose change around the house.

Hi-tech UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box

The idea behind this hi-tech UNICEF Trick-or-Treat Box came from a Microsoft and PSFK-sponsored study that looked at ways to increase fundraising using mobile technology. Although UNICEF is still working out all the kinks, the basic concept is pretty much in place: Users scan the Microsoft Tag on the side of the boxes with their cell phones, which brings them to a special website featuring activities for kids as well as educational information about where UNICEF’s dollars are going. The option to donate more will also be on the website.

Dual Cam Dashboard Camera - - For Front and Rare View at the Same Time

This Dual Cam Dash Camera is designed to shoot and store video from both the front of your vehicle and the rear which means you should be totally covered in the event of an accident or road rage incident. As is usual with this sort of product, don’t expect awesome video quality, and I’m not sure I’d be totally comfortable using it to back up, but hey, it’s an interesting thing. $85.99.

Find it difficult to prove you innocent during the traffic accident? This Dual CAM Car Dashboard Camera will help you a lot in this situation. With two camera lens installed, it will help you capture video both in front or back of the car. At the same time, you just watch the LCD screen while backing your car since the video will be showed.

Smart Radiation Detector: Connect it with Apple iPhone Audio jack and Check the Radiation Levels Around You

The devastating combination of earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March this year, led to the most concerned event of nuclear reactor breaches that if gone unchecked could have resulted in a much higher casualty rate than the calamity itself. Learning from the experiences of Chernobyl and the breached Japanese nuclear reactors, a team of scientists and researchers has come up with a rather interesting product. The all new Smart Radiation Detector, is a small sized variant of the globally recognized Geiger counter and has been designed specifically for the Apple iPhone. Suppose you are in Japan and wish to know about the radiation levels permeating in the air, you can now get that information without having to spend enormous sums on a Geiger counter. The Smart Radiation Detector connects effortlessly to the iPhone’s audio jack and will instantly detect Beta and Gamma radiation levels.

Smart Radiation Detector

This incredible new iPhone accessory can also be used with Apple iPod Touch and iPad devices and the entire concept has been based on the utilization of PIN Photo-diode. This new technology, essentially eliminates the need of costly Geiger-Muller Tube and the detector itself has been designed to fit neatly in a matchbox or FRISK mint-box. The Smart Radiation Detector will be available for a mere $50 and the radiation detection application for iOS devices is available from Apple Apps Store for just $5. The project is currently under funding phase at KickStarter and the group envisions the development of 1000 plus units after gathering about $4375, which will be invested in the manufacturing as well as calibration testing processes.

Play 360° Portable Speaker - - Bluetooth Enabled Small Package Full of Impeccable Features

I don’t usually get very excited about portable speakers. The reason for this is that while they are small enough to take with you, most of them have terrible sound. I’ve tried a number of them, and most of them barely outperform my phone, which isn’t worth the hassle. Nokia however, has piqued my interest with their new Play 360° portable speaker.

This device is packed with some pretty cool features, which make it seem like something worthwhile to keep around. It connects to your phone (or any other device) via Bluetooth or a standard stereo jack. It uses NFC, which allows you to pair it by simply tapping your device on the top of it. You can even pair two speakers together, and they will set themselves up as left and right channels. With 10 hours of battery life, I’d say that I’m sufficiently interested. The sound output would have to be pretty awesome to justify the $215 price tag, though. Look for these sometime in Q3 of this year.

Contort USB Hub: keep your USB-powered items free from harm, and give you a few extra places to plug in

It seems that just about everything is powered via USB anymore. That is really convenient and all, but it oftentimes leaves us without space to plug things in. Not to mention that if your computer is in a awkward place, you risk breaking anything that’s plugged in. A thumb drive can only be smacked into so many times before it decides to break on you.

Contort USB Hub

The Contort USB Hub is a great way to keep your USB-powered items free from harm, and give you a few extra places to plug in. It’s flexible TPE rubberneck can move a full 360-degrees, which will keep anything plugged into it safe from harm. If four ports aren’t enough, you can always expand it to accommodate your need. At only $24.99, peace of mind and extra cable space is well worth the money.

RoboStir: A Perfect Kitchen Partner - - Don't Get Started Without RoboStir

There are a few people out there that still like to make time-consuming home-cooked meals. For those of us that would like to start cooking at home, but can’t sit over a stove watching a pan or pot, there are devices like the RoboStir.

Requiring only 4 AA batteries, this little stirring device will make sure that the entirety of the bottom of your pot will stay free of burnt build-up. It is also fully submersible and waterproof, which would make sense, as you’ll be putting it in liquid a lot. Best of all, whenever you’re finished, you simply snap it apart and can put it in the dishwasher.

Costing only $11, this is a cheap and easy way to keep your food from being neglected while it’s cooking. Meals especially like sauces or beans that need stirring for hours almost require something like this, as you don’t want to throw your arm out of socket trying to stir it yourself.

Roller-Shaper: The Rotating Body Massager - - Cuts Extra Fat Without Exercise

Roller-Shaper: The Rotating Body Massager
A lot of people are continuously looking for a way to lose weight without having to really exercise or workout, and the Roll-Shaper may be another option that gets the plump to the gym more effectively than a treadmill does.

Roller-Shaper, the rotating body massager is large enough to press your back, thighs, butt and belly and it comes with instructions for several “workouts” that involve holding different positions against the mechanical roller.

Although the weight loss claim may be a little contentious, the manufacturers emphasize that the Roll-Shaper has great results for lymphatic drainage and ultimately for overall health. The image of a room full of Roll-Shapers rather than cross-trainers may remain surprising for some, but so long as users see some physiological result, this may be worth a try.

Just watch out the Roller-Shaper machine in action HERE.

Electrolux Powermix: The First Patented “Sound Reduction System”

It seems to sound a little silly to put out a blender that is ten times quieter than all other blenders. This little guy still spits out about 80 db of sound which is the same as a car going 55 mph, as opposed to most blenders that are 95 db and sound like a motorcycle.

The Electrolux Powermix has a patented “Sound Reduction System” which reduces vibrations, and gets better airflow around the motor. If sound really bothers you, then this may be an item for you to look into. You may have to do a little searching though, as it’s currently only available in certain parts of Europe. Otherwise, this is a really pointless thing that you will likely pay a lot of money for. If it advertises that it should be really quiet, it should actually be really quiet, and not still whirring about at 80db.

Hex Wrench Necklace: Multipurpose Stylish Jewelry

When purchasing jewelry, it can be difficult to find something that you like and will keep wearing on a regular basis. The Hex Wrench Necklace is something you can count on wearing for any occasion, and will have more use than enhancing the space around your neck. This honeycomb design is made of a solid stainless steel, and is in the spirit of “form following function”.

Hex Wrench Necklace: Multipurpose Stylish Jewelry
The hexagons can fit a standard sized bit alongside 8, 10, 12, and 14 mm bolts so you can use it as a wrench in a pinch. It comes on a hand-knotted cord that can adjust from 16” to 28” in length. I could definitely see this as being something I wore on a regular basis as you never know when you’ll need to fix something. It’s also very compact at 2.75” x 1.25” x 1/8” and could always fit into a bag or backpack if you’d rather not wear it. Although I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to adorn your neck with a useful tool. You can purchase your very own for $55.

The Cool Leaf Keyboard - - Physical Keys Replaced with a Capacitative Touch Panel (Must See Video)

If you’ve ever watched Star Trek, you’ve no doubt noticed that their keyboards and such are all flat surfaces. This helps give it the futuristic look that we have come to appreciate over the years. With tablets, we can simulate that same look, for certain applications. However, if you’re looking for an actual keyboard like this, you’ve only got one option: the Cool Leaf keyboard.

This special keyboard uses a capacitative touch panel in place of physical keys. This is the same technologies used in many tablets and touchscreen phones. It also makes use of haptic feedback technology, which makes it vibrate slightly when a key is touched, so you know when a key has been pressed. I can’t say how useful it would be to actually type on, as opposed to a regular keyboard. On the bright side, it is much easier to clean, as it takes just a wipe to do so. The $320 price is enough to make sure that most people will happily stick to their trust old keyboards.

Conserve Socket: Eco-friendly Gadget With Timer to Prevent Wastage of Energy

These days it’s not uncommon for a person to carry at least one gadget with them at all times. Sometimes you’ll carry more than one, depending on your needs. In order for these devices to keep pace with you, they need to be charged for a few hours. But how often do you charge them for the exact amount of time necessary? Well, when you leave them on the charger for hours after they’ve received a full charge, you’re wasting electricity. How do you prevent this? By getting a wall outlet that cuts off power after a certain amount of time.

The Conserve Socket is a simple eco-friendly gadget that ensures you waste as little power as necessary when charging your gadgets. On the side you’ll find a switch that reads 30 minutes, 3 hours and 6 hours. Just set it to the appropriate time, and plug in your gadget. Once the timer is up, the socket will cut power to your device. This can also be used for other home electronics, such as lights, fans, heaters and more. Saving electricity doesn’t come at a high price, as this device will only set you back $10.

iPhone Photo Printer - - Crystal-clear Printouts Direct from Your iPhone

Seeing as the quality of photos that come out of newer smartphones are pretty decent, it makes pretty good sense that we use them to take a good portion of our photos. Holidays, birthdays, and special events have all amassed in photo form onto your device, and unless printed, will stay there forever. Sure, you can transfer photos to your computer and turn out some copies, but wouldn’t it be easier if there were a printer just for your phone?

The iPhone Photo Printer has a $159.99 price tag, but prints out crystal-clear 300 dpi resolution photos. The vibrant colors you will find in these photos are thanks to some patented paper that has yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals embedded within it. Each purchase is accompanied with a pack of paper that will give you about a dozen prints that are smudge-, tear-, and fade-proof, as well as water resistant. For those of you that own an Android-powered device, you will be happy to know that this will play nice with your phone as well.
