Google Labs has launched “Listen,” a new “audio magazine” that lets Android users find or subscribe to programs to organize their podcasts with their Android phones. The App lets you queue up your preferred podcasts, share podcasts with your friends and even stay updated with breaking news on the go.
Users can search for podcast genres that interest them, such as politics, news, and weather, then can either play them on the spot or queue them for later listening. What’s great about the “Listen” App is that it lets users actually search for new content straight from their devices, which other similar Apps on the iPhone don’t seem to offer.
Since “Listen” is still taking its baby steps, all the available podcasts are currently in English. As the App gains popularity, however, Google says they will offer support for other languages as well.
“Listen” is also only available to Android-enabled phones at the moment, such as the G-1 and the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G, though the list of supported devices will almost certainly expand over the next several weeks. To get the App, go to the Android Market and look for “Listen.”
