So the roll-out of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 update to Android 2.1 has finally started in earnest. I just upgraded and it’s transformed the handset…from a rather pedestrian phone to a very classy piece of equipment which holds its own against anything else in the world.
Yes I know it sounds strange that a simple upgrade can deliver a completely new phone, but in this case it really has. The old X10 suffered from a bloated, awkward user interface that was so cumbersome it actually put you off doing things. Like making a phone call. Seriously.
The new 2.1 interface is all business and zero fluff, which lets you really enjoy the beautifully responsive screen and controls of the phone as they should be enjoyed. Not to mention the fact that users will now be able to access all the latest Android goodies from Market and beyond. I’ll keep testing the thing to see what else stands out as I have a feeling there’s a bunch of stuff that’s been fixed, the phone really feels crisper and more responsive in every way.
So here’s the real beauty of Android, a brand new state of the art mobile phone for the price of a download. Awesome!
