For the Apple iPad device, Apple Inc. has apparently decided to modify the Apple iPhone OS 3.2 and now the developers working on the operating system have revealed, that the iPad SDK (software development kit) consists of some new codes that hint towards Apple’s support for new finger gestures.
These new codes were discovered in the folder marked, “Gestures” and the folders two files namely, 3Tap.plist and LongPress.plist, giving out indications that, Apple might be working on two new finger gestures, that would include, 3 taps and a long press. As per the developers, the 3Tap.plist suggests that, the users might be able to work with three fingers on the iPad, instead of the more conventional two fingers gesture. Furthermore, the LongPress.plist file, according to the developers might enable the iPad to pop in a secondary menu, if the tablet screen is pressed for several seconds at a time.
The Long Press gesture is nothing new in the touch screen realm, as the Google Android operating system has already introduced this gesture, that allows the users to access additional items in the Android devices. Even Apple iPhone is no stranger to the long presses, as this gestures facilitates the re-arrangement of applications on the home screen.
