Forget Android Gingerbread (2.3). During the event, “D: Dive Into Mobile”, held in the United States, Andy Rubin, vice president of engineering at Google, presented the features of the new system Honeycomb (3.0) dedicated to the tablets.
Google released yesterday information and pictures of the new system for Android smartphones 2.3 (Gingerbread), together with the new apparatus of the company, Nexus S. Both will be available from 16 days in the United States.
But the same day Rubin showed off a prototype tablet running the new Motorola enterprise system dedicated to this type of laptop, something in which the Android 2.3 is weak.
The Honeycomb is a firm commitment to the tablet market, allowing more customization by the user and adjusted images to the screen. But the company confirmed plans to launch when the system, which should be mid-2011.
The tablet had video chat Motorola processor, nVidia, dual core processor and 3D Honeycomb ran Android. And when viewing the new features, Rubin called attention to another issue: Google Map Mobile 5.
The new Maps for mobile devices brings the most dynamic features such as multitouch support for navigation, 3D maps and offline access.
