Urban India takes fancy for owls: Owls gain popularity as pets. Urban India highly fascinated by Harry Potter’s lead protagonist’s pet owl named Hedwig, has decided to keep owls as pets as stated this Wednesday by wildlife experts.
Ahmed added “’My friend said that she wanted an owl as the party theme is Harry Potter.” Having undergone a study on owls’ habitat, Ahmed stated that there are no exact numbers as to how many owls can be kept as pets.
Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh stated “’There has been a strange fascination among affluent class to present their children owls, probably inspired by Harry Potter books and movies where the protagonist Harry has a pet owl.”
