ACER is launching an entry level Android smartphone called the beTouch E140. This particular device sits with a couple of other devices called the E110 and E130.
Technical specs show that it runs the latest version of Google Android (2.2) and that it comes with a 2.8 inch QVGA screen, has a 600MHz CPU and has a 3.2 megapixel camera.
For connectivity, it has HSDPA/HSUPA as well as WiFi and Bluetooth.
As for release dates, expect the ACER beTouch to launch over in Italy sometime around Christmas. Pricing for the phone is $264 at todays exchange rate.
