Shell is Preparing to Launsh First Ever Floating LNG Plant - - Official Announcement From Shell

Shell has announced that the company is preparing the blueprints for what will be the first floating LNG plant in the world and the world’s biggest vessel. The plant will be built off Australia.

The company refused to give the exact dates as to when it might actually happen, but mentioned that the vessel, which will be some 480m long, 75m wide and weigh over 600,000 metric tons will cost about $5 billion and generate 3.5 million tons of LNG each year.

The plant according to the company will satiate the increase in demand for LNG as rapidly industrializing Asian countries such as India and China will increasingly find cleaner-burning fuels.
