As part of the new Center for Sustainable Landscapes, a solar-powered interactive display has been developed for a under development living building located at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. MAYA Design, a design consultancy and technology research lab is the name behind the development of a prototype that will work as an education center imparting knowledge regarding eco-friendly technology used in sustainable building systems, the building and its surrounding environment.
The powerful computer that is capable of converting solar energy into information has an electronic paper display, which is developed by Cambridge Mass.-based E Ink Corp. It is one-of-a kind creation, which blends sustainability, green technology and living information together. A whooping $20 million will go into constructing the building, which will incorporate green design that go beyond a LEED platinum rating by the U.S. Green Building Council.
