The Patria Aviation Oy company has created a patch of clothing that can communicate via satellite. This patch of clothing can do two-way voice and data as well as location via the Iridium and GPS frequencies respectively.
This new clothing could be the next step in communication mobility—say goodbye to your cell phone, and get yourself a ‘Star Trek’ uniform. We now have the communication devices from ‘Star Trek,’ all we need now are transporters. I think we will all be saying “Beam me up, Scotty,” in the near future.
"The crew of the classic science-fiction show’s Starship Enterprise wore small devices on their chests that they could tap to communicate instantly with their colleagues. Such communications technology is now closer to reality thanks to a Finnish company which this week demonstrated high-tech clothing that can send and receive messages via satellite."
