Here’s a quick IQ check. What’s a Delta Robot? You must be thinking, what the hell if it’s delta or theta robot, and, why I am asking you this silly question. Well, I was just going to enlighten you about a DIY Delta robot built by Asurofilmchen, but thought it’s no use, if even one of you all was oblivious of them. So, methinks that the best way is to gather what all you know, before serving you this info.
So, here it is: Delta robot is a sort of parallel robot, invented by Reymond Clavel, having all arms (3 in number) and no body to go with them. These three arms are connected to universal joints at the base and their tips are connected to an end effector, which interacts with the work environment. Delta robots design principle is that it uses parallelograms in the arms, which maintain the orientation of the end effector. Its super fast arms make it fit for picking and packaging in factories. Now, not straying off course, this As.., Asuro.., Asurofilmchen’s (really tough to get it right) DIY Delta robot is not as nimble as its industrial counterparts, but is really a commendable effort. Do check out another cool video after the break.
