Super Fast Eco-Friendly Car - - Hydrogen Peroxide-Powered Drag Racer is Green And Fast

A chemical that is an active ingredient in most hair dyes is tested for feasibility in a drag racer with astonishing results. While hydrogen fuel cells are expensive and electric cars are slow, drag racers are using hydrogen peroxide to fuel their engines that with the fuel emit plenty of steam and oxygen.

The technology has been used to power rockets and submarines, but using it as a car fuel is a relatively new concept. The engine requires a flood of hydrogen peroxide into a combustion chamber filled with silver or platinum screens that act as a catalyst.

When hydrogen peroxide comes in contact with the catalyst, an energy-generation reaction occurs that releases oxygen, water, heat and major amounts of thrust. It is awesome to see how fast the vehicle launches when the full amount of thrust kicks in running quarter mile speeds up to 450 miles per hour. The huge plume of steam will definitely prevent you from riding this machine on an open highway, but it does prove that alternative fuels have more to them than just electricity.
