Social networking is possibly the fastest growing and most widely used means to keep in touch with your family, friends and business associates. Making use of the latest form of communique, Italian designer Venia Giota has come up with a physical interface called “Synathrisis” that works as a device based social networking for people who shares same interests and activities. The Synathrisis combines three parameters - people, time and space. When the user sets its preferences, by filling information through the three tokens (content filters), events come up. This feature gives the user the opportunity to always stay in touch with his preferred contacts. As Synathrisis changes perspective according to the user and his perspective of social life, it lies between the essence of an agenda, a social map, a calendar and a board game.
Activities token
When the user sets this token, on Synathrisis interface, a menu of events appears which contains activities that the user has selected before through the internet platform. Once the user selects a category, the transparent part of the token takes the color of the category and on the surface appears the icon of that category. The user can choose the preferred activity in detail, as the image of the chosen event appears on the surface of the token.
Contacts token
This token works as the personal key for using Synathrisis. It stores all the contacts on the mobile telephone and/or from the Synathrsis web site. When this token is on the Synathrisis interface, it triggers the contacts menu to appear in order the user to invite people to join an activity together.
Time token
Time token provides the users the ability to choose the time spam daily, weekly or monthly calendar. When the users choose one option, the date appears on the surface of the token so the users have a starting point and the display changes accordingly. The Synathrisis connects people in a more indirect but meaningful way than talking on the phone.
