Researches seem to be doing well to make patients life better. Just yesterday we saw a VASOVISION head mount display which intends to simply things in surgery and today we have a ‘touch-feely’ tumor detecting robot from Canadian researchers. The robot detects tumor tissues with 40% more accuracy than any human. Point here is that the surgeons have developed new minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques and instruments to simplify things and make only 10mm incisions in case of surgeries, thus reducing tissue damage, infections and recovery time. Because tissues keep moving, the position identified scans aren’t really as effective in surgeries, thus this robotic system which uses tactile sensing instruments moves over suspect tissue systematically and thus identifies the tumor just perfectly. If developed completely, the robotic system of the sort would definitely benefit in surgeries related with tumors.
