Salman Khan (Bollywood Star) Keen to Buy New IPL Outfit for Not Less Than $300 Million

Salman Khan joins the bevy of Bollywood actors expressing interest in becoming the franchisee owner of an IPL team, leaving Lalit Modi beaming.

It is still unclear on how the IPL will impact cricket per se in a few years’ time, but its commercial success certainly has Bollywood actors fighting each other for a piece of the public pie.

According to Modi, the Chairman and Commissioner of the IPL, Salman Khan is genuinely interested in buying one of the new teams in the IPL. The IPL 4 in 2011 will expand from eight to ten teams and the tenders for the teams are supposed to be out by the end of the year.

Besides Salman Khan, apparently Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan are also interested in such a business venture. The fact that Modi intends to sell these teams for no less than 300 million dollars does not seem to worry these men from the movies.

Already Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla co-own the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while Preity Zinta has another co-ownership deal with Ness Wadia and Burman for the Mohali team Kings XI Punjab while Shilpa Shetty joined the fray with the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2 along with her beau, Raj Kundra.
