GHOSTBUSTER XBOX 360 - - THE VIDEO GAME

I know we reported that the US version of Ghostbusters Xbox 360 game was supposed to work on UK Xbox 360, but I can definitely confirm first-hand that this is the case as I’ve played and completed it!

Now obviously, the fact that I managed to set aside the time to play it actually quite impresses me anyway, not because it’s a poor game, but given I’ve still yet to play some games on my New Year's resolution games backlog list from 18 months ago!

I won’t go into the detailed specifics of reviewing the game as Ender has already done a great Ghostbusters video game review of the PS3 version, but I would just that overall I thought this was a really enjoyable game, as much for the premise of the game (joining the team as a new recruit rather than playing the main characters), so you have the great feeling of just hanging out with the guys during the course of the game.

Actually playing the game, including the “busting” and trapping of the various ghosts does work very well in this game, it’s certainly no exact science to it and the way that you end up blasting up the locations and having to wrestle with the controller when capturing ghosts seems to work really well.

The story that you play through in the game manages to tie together and expand on the established Ghostbusters characters and storylines from the movies, in fact this is probably one of the best narratives I’ve played through in a game – this story would have worked great as a movie in fact!

The only real bad point for me, was that I found it got rather repetitive rather quickly when having a session playing it, even with the varying types of proton pack weapons, I never found myself playing for more than 1-2 hours at a time – but it’s quite a short game really, so I suppose it meant I played it over a longer time span and it extended out the experience, I certainly kept coming back for more though!

Overall, if you, like me were really disappointed to hear that Sony had delayed the Xbox 360 release of Ghostbuster in the UK until Christmas, then let me re-assure you that you’re missing out on a good game, so feel free to buy the US version of Ghostbusters in the knowledge that it will run on your standard UK Xbox 360.
