Official Specification and Details Released for Viewsonic’s Tablet Dual-Boot



ViewSonic announced in late August a line of tablets with Android operational system and/or Windows 7, but until then the details of the devices remained unknown. Now, with the official release and a date for the sale, the new tablets surprising ways good and bad.



Both types come with Android, but only the 10 inch model will have the option to dual-boot with Windows 7 Home Premium. The processors on both tablets are also different: an Intel Atom 1.66 GHz model in a larger and smaller at 1GHz Snapdragon.

The differences do not stop there. The 10 inch model will have an outdated version of Android (to 1.6), while the 7 inch model comes with version 2.2. The resolution is also different, with 1024 x 600 for the ViewPad 10 and 800 x 480 for ViewPad 7.

The internal storage is also lower in miniature model. Only 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB against the 10-inch model, which also has a 16 GB SSD. Both models have microSD card slot, increasing the space available for up to 32 GB. The battery life of the small model is approximately 10 hours, according to ViewSonic.

The ViewPad 7 has two cameras, a three megapixel auto focus on the back and front (with 0.3 megapixels) on the front. The ViewPad 10 has only a front camera with 1.3 megapixel camera and microphone, making it ideal for video conferencing.

The connectivity of devices to extend Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth, and both will have capacitive touch-sensitive screens.
