On Friday, Forbes released its annual list of “Hollywood’s Most Overpaid Actors.” Such high-profile performers as Drew Barrymore, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Vince Vaughn, and Denzel Washington made the list, while Megamind’s Will Ferrell was ranked at the top for the second time in his career.
Forbes acknowledged that The Other Guys, a film starring Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, and Eva Mendes that performed well at the box office after its early August release, was not included in their calculations since it hit theaters after their June 1 deadline.
Their decision to rank Ferrell as Hollywood’s most overpaid actor was heavily influenced by box office flop Land of the Lost, which brought in just $69 million in global revenue with an estimated $100 million budget.
Under-performing date flick Everybody’s Fine resulted in Barrymore’s inclusion on Forbes’ annual list, PopEater reports, and the publication did not even take Going the Distance into account since it was released in September.
It comes as a surprise to see Damon on the list, but although his roles in The Informant! and Invictus drew critical acclaim and award nominations, they were only mildly successful at the box office. He certainly has a chance to close out 2010 with a bang due to his roles in Hereafter and True Grit.
Others included on Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s most overpaid actors were Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogen, and Adam Sandler.
