Solar Parking Lots Opened in Tokyo by Sanyo - - Capable of Recharging 100 Electric Hybrid Bicycles Using Solar Energy

Sanyo, the Japanese electronics giant announced the opening of two solar parking lots in Tokyo yesterday. Installed in the city of Setagaya at Keio Line Sakurajosui Station and Tokyu Den-en Toshi Line Sakurashinmachi Station, these lots are capable of recharging 100 electric hybrid bicycles using solar energy. Each station contains a combination of solar panels and lithium-ion battery system to charge 100 of Sanyo’s “eneloop” bikes, in addition to powering the LED lights that illuminate the parking lot at night.

The company claims that the system is completely clean and eradicates the use of fossil fuels. Both the lots also include electric outlets to power external equipment during times of emergency. The charging points relying on rooftop photovoltaic panels, works perfectly fine on rainy days too. Hit the video to check the working.
