1929 Wall Street Crash was a depressing phase not just for the Americans but also for Britain. Those days, to own an Austin 12/4 was something of a luxury.
Now, strangely, a rare Austin was found in a garage which was languishing unknown for about 50 years. Roger Bulled decided to look at his old family car and was quite sure that the car would not start after 50 years of non-usage. Surprisingly the car did start after staying dormant for 50 years!
The 81 year old car was last driven or moved only in 1961 and Roger’s father had locked it up in 1961. He pumped the tyres and the car was so full bodied that when he tried to start the engine it just began to work. This just shows that cars manufactured during those days were way better than what we get in the name of high technology these days.
The car could actually be displayed in a museum or someplace like that. Apparently, the wheels alone are worth £100 each so you could just imagine how much the car might fetch if it were auctioned off. It would cost a fortune to restore it still, for the car is tattered but it would be amaizng to have it shiny and new again after 81 years.
