Designer Yves Behar has come up with a new concept tablet, the XO-3, which looks so good that consumers may be temporarily fooled into buying one just because of the beauty of the piece. The XO-3 has an 8.5×11 inch touchscreen which practically makes up the complete gadget.
The ultra slim and uber cool XO-3 may be OLPC’s tablet that would come out in 2012, if all goes well, that is. Fitted with a dainty ring at the corner for easy handling and portability, the XO-3 also has a camera at the back of the device. Within is an 8GHz processor that can be powered using Palm Prey-style induction charging to keep the Pixel Qi screen going. The XO-3 certainly sounds great; just the simplistic design and the slimness of the tablet will carry you away, but this is just a concept at the moment and OLPC would be releasing two other versions of the XO long before the XO-3.
The XO-1.5 is slated to be released next month and would cost $200 while the XO-1.75 worth $175 would be out in 2011. Seems like there is still time for OLPC to make that dream tablet a reality.
