Super-speed Monorails Unveiled By UK Javelin - - UK’s First Domestic High-speed Rail Service

If cutting commuting time in half (or more) isn’t enough to make UK residents jump on a train over driving in their cars, I don’t know what will. The recently unveiled UK Javelin trains are the country’s first domestic high-speed rail service.

The UK Javelin trains will operate at a speed of 140 mph, meaning a trip from London to Ramsgate, which typically takes about 81 min, can be done in about half an hour. The fare prices will be slightly more expensive, but as Inhabitat puts it, hopefully “the short trips times will still be attractive enough to dissuade commuters from driving.”
