In an effort to green personal transportation, industrial designers have long imagined vehicles that are powered by electric engines running on renewable sources of energy harvested by the vehicle itself. The Deltoid, which was an entrant at the Michelin Design Challenge, is one such double energy vehicle that harvests renewable energy for a sustainable ride.
The all-electric concept vehicle features dual-charging system, allowing the car’s batteries to be recharged either through a conventional wall socket, or through the photovoltaic elements installed on the top of the glass roof. Even the chassis of the car harvests solar energy for the same.
Two horizontal bars are connected with the main chassis to ensure that the passengers are protected from an accident. The vehicle lets the user know the amount of energy left in the onboard batteries, which if down, only needs the driver to park the car in the sun and the grind would be juiced up again.
