Toshiba has finally announced the arrival of its much anticipated direct methane fuel-cell (DMFC) charger. The Dynario fuel-cell for portable electronic devices will go on sale October 29. The company will initially roll out 3000 units in Japan for a price of about $328.
The company will also be rolling out 50ml fuel cartridges, a set of five of which will cost an addition $34. The fuel cell takes about 20 seconds to refill with an injection of concentrated methanol solution, after which it is ready to charge USB-connected devices.

The Hybrid fuel cell charger will also pack a lithium-ion battery that can store enough energy to charge two cellphones. The lithium-ion battery is charged via the fuel-cell, but we believe that it won’t let you down even if you connect it to a wall socket.
