Sci-fied Houseboat Built in 20 Years by Apollo 11 Engineer

When you’re a part of something as awesome and legendary as the Apollo missions, you probably get a sci-fi outlook to things. Dennis Schaller was an electrical engineer for the Apollo missions, and he built this spaceship like thing from a travel trailer in 20 years.

Initially, Schaller designed the 50 feet long and 20 feet wide “trailer” as a hovercraft, but he hasn’t enough time and money to see that idea reach fruition. He thinks the creation will probably end up as a houseboat. That houseboat is likely going to be the nerdiest of all. Also, he gets points for his intelligent choice of materials, and for reusing them. He built a lot of parts out of discarded materials, the travel trailer was found in the woods and cost him $100, the lifeboat was formerly an acid dipping vat, and he’s even used an old satellite dish.
