Mantis Concept From Designer Andy Tioh - - A Hint of Futuristic Trends of Vehicles

The Mantis concept from designer Andy Tioh has been created on the lines of vehicles most popular with the purists, and it is built on the same idea as well; for the sheer pleasure of driving. It has dimensions roughly similar to the Lotus Elise, and does away with everything non essential to driving like the Caterham.

There are no electronic aids for the car, and it has a manual transmission to keep on with the purest form of driving experience. Power comes from a small turbodiesel engine that ensures a better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. The gearbox is mounted at the rear for better weight distribution, there are two diesel filler inlets on either side of the car, and a passenger seat which is mounted lower and lightly rearwards to allow the driver a clearer view and to keep the center of gravity lower to the ground.

Body panels of the car are made of recycled plastics that help maintain the low weight and can also be customized to suit the driver’s mood. If the concept ever reaches the production lines, Andy says it would cost roughly the same as a Nissan Sentra.
