World's Tallest Wooden Building Designed By Oslo-based Reiulf Ramstad Architects in Norway

Commissioned by the Norwegian Barents Secretariat, Oslo-based Reiulf Ramstad Architects are set to rewrite the record books with their new cultural center as the world’s tallest wooden building. Located in Kirkenes, a multiethnic area in Norway, the 17 story tall building will be raised by using sustainable material and feature environmental solutions in different parts of the structure. Based on integrated systems to adapt the altering seasons and climate, the wooden structure becomes a physical symbol of the significant role of the Secretariat in the region. A model for green and clean construction, the ambitious project will accommodate energy-efficient offices for the Barents Secretariat, together with a library, a theater and a creative environment for artists, researchers and students. Build on the line of traditional architecture from Russia, Sweden, Finland and Norway; the sustainable building will also use recycled or biodegradable materials from the adjacent area, becoming an emblem of eco-construction for contemporary as well as futuristic architects.
