Style.com posed the question, “Would you wear this Chanel gown to your wedding?” My answer: probably not. However, I wouldn’t judge another woman for doing so; in fact, I’d probably be unable to get my eyes off her. Any woman who can pull of wearing black—even if it’s just in the accents and details—at her wedding needs to be admired for her courage for going against the norm.
This frilly-meets-badass Chanel wedding dress kicks off a splendid gallery of modern gowns from the 2009 Haute Couture and Resort collections from a bevy of designers. Included are looks from Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Georges Hobeika, Givenchy, Lanvin, Chanel (the suit as well as the matching white-on-white couple), Christian Lacroix and a lace headpiece from Valentino.
