When we say economical, we mean economy in the sense of a luxury plane, which of course means there’s a wee bit of price drop, but not a price drop that would make it cheap. The Turboprop Daher-Socata TBM 850 offers cruising speed close to that of light jets, but has the easier and less expensive operation that would come from a single-engine turboprop.
Power for the plane comes from Pratt & Whitney PT6A engine, and the plane’s cabin has enough room for four people, the co-pilot and the pilot. Along with the luxurious air-conditioned cabin, the plane offers some tech goodies like Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck that provides terrain, traffic and obstacle visuals in 3D. The plane costs $2.8 million, totally… economical!
