Minis are going to be similar to what you already see on the Playstation Network and WiiWare. Smaller companies are going to develop their own games for people to download to play on the PSP. Each of the games will be limited to a file size of only 100MB which is tiny (or mini) compared to how much PSOne games take up on your memory stick for your PSP.
Games such as Tetris and Sudoku have been named as games including in the ‘Minis’ bracket, but it’s going to be interesting to see what studios can come up with, with such a small file size to play with. Some of the games on the Playstation Network for the PS3 don’t have huge file sizes and it’s impressive to see what they do with their games, so who knows what developers have in mind.
Sony said they were going to be bringing out a lot more content for the PSP, and this might go a long way to making the PSP a bit more enjoyable.
The first of the games are set to be released on 1st October 2009 so check the PSN to see what’s available on the day. The games are priced at around £5 and below and around 50 games are going to be released by the end of 2009 which is plenty of content to see the year out.
What do you think to Sony’s new addition for the PSP? Are you glad that Sony have finally decided to do this to add some longevity to the PSP, or do you think it’s another weak attempt at Sony trying to up sell the PSP? Let us know in the comments below.
