"RODEM" WHEELCHAIR-CUM-SCOOTER - - SAFETY & COMFORT FOR DISABLED

Over time, wheelchairs have evolved into great mobility rides, from mere source of getting the differently abled from one place to the other. Extending upon the same lines, but doing it just differently – Robotics and medical researchers in Japan have released a prototype of a high-tech electric wheelchair that resembles a scooter to a great extent.

Dubbed as the RODEM, it is a four-wheel ride, which provides perfect safety for the legs and chest – resting them on the embedded cushions. Making it real easy for the user to slide in and off the wheelchair, without craving for help each time, the RODEM lets the user steer the wheelchair with a joystick, or use the scooter like handle to ride it to the desired destination.

Displayed at the Veda center, the medical universal vehicle RODEM is a collaborative contraption of Tmsuk Co. (robot makers in Japan) and researchers from different universities in the country. The robotic wheelchair with its unique and user-friendly make, guarantees a more free and precise mobility to people who had been bound to others mercy just until. Yeah, even guys with no disabilities can ride the RODEM for some fun on the streets why not (when they are legal and ready for production though).
