Insects have been a long tapped fascination for robots - be they churned in the Steampunkish terms of things or in mere robotic exquisiteness, insects’ form and movement has always stirred things. Such case in point is the Phasma, a six-legged remote-controlled robot from takram design engineering. Designed to mimic an insect in running, the Phasma desires to build upon the robot-human interaction through motion alone. It’s nowhere close to an insect in shape though, it is creatively engineered in sliding cables, stainless steel springs and rubber joints to replicate the smoothness and efficiency shown by insects in speedy movement. Follow the jump to see the hexapedal robot running.
