Turning a boring and near ugly region into a place that is beautiful and which people would visit just to see is a quite easy task. The difficulty arises in trying to create beauty in something that is practical while also not being harmful to the environment.
Eco friendly gadgets are the mantra of the times and the Electric Garden proves how staying environmentally friendly can also be a damn beautiful thing. 15 blue steel sunflowers which recently sprouted along I-35 at Austin, Texas, have been the object of much desire and attention. Created by artists Mags Harries and Lajos Héder, the sunflowers were planted in the electric Garden in an attempt to hide the loading deck alongside the road.
The humongous flowers have blue crystalline photovoltaic panel all along its petals which collect the energy from the sun all through the day to light up the flowers at night. The solar energy powers the LEDs within the petals creation a mesmerizing show of electric flowers for viewer at night. The garden which officially opened on july 30th have also become a source of meeting spot during the day for people who enjoy languishing under the shade of the sun-flowers.
