DENIM - - THROUGH GENERATIONS

Denim is the most popular and comfortable fabric that any generation wants to dress in. It has been famous since the time it was found in the early 19th century. Denim is the coolest fabric and the denim jeans are the most common attire. Though the trends changed with time but the main motive to don denim remained they same as it is the most durable fabric ever made. Below is the evolution of the denim , its designs and how it changed since so many years.

The early period in the 19th century saw denim as the most durable fabric and wore it in its simplest form and color. Denim got its original color as blue because at that time the only known ink was the indigo blue and people could not have been more creative than giving this fabric blue shade.

With the progress of cinema in the 1930’s denim became popular as the fabric worn by the gypsies and the cowboys.

1950’s was the era that saw denim becoming really popular with the teenagers as in the TV shows, which had become quite known that time portrayed the denims as the dress for the rebels. It became a dress for the antagonist teenagers.

The next era of the 60’s and 70’s saw a rise in the hippie culture and so did the denim change in its appearance. This time denims was more of a fabric for the common masses. And people started to adopt it in various styles. All the embroidered denim handbags and painted denim jeans became very famous.

The 80’s was the main era that took denim to a higher level when the top shot designers began to design jeans and jackets in this fabric. 80’s saw denims as a fabric that made the youngsters look trendy.

90’s was the denim age. And youngsters loved to play with the two denim colors, black and blue. Every year of this era saw the fabric growing.

And finally the present era, denim is all about everything from colors to designs, from shorts to the mini skirts and from the accessories to the shoes. We get everything in denim. And we love it too. As denim has ad will always remain a fabric that portrays elegance and attitude!
