Beauty products always make tall claims about miraculously making you more beautiful than you could ever imagine possible. It is up to every consumer to practice a little caution and checking up on the product before blindly buying it but does this mean that companies can get away with anything?
Advertising Standards Authority has been bearing down hard upon companies making advertisements with false information. After popular companies Olay and Estee Lauder, Nivea is now in trouble with the authorities for one of their advertisements. The Nivea Visage DNAge Cell Renewal Day Cream allegedly boosts surface skin cell renewal leading to visibly toner skin. The advertisement has been banned by the authority for suggesting that the changes are permanent and also since there was no evidence for making such claims.
The anti-ageing cream product is manufactured by Beiersdorf UK Ltd and the company has stated that the errors in the advertisement would be corrected and that future advertisements would also state that the effects from using the skin product is merely temporary. The banning of such advertisements would stop companies from making false claims in the future.
