Aquamarine Power have revealed that they are going to put in place a wave power system on the seabed located off Orkney Islands coast. The device makes use of wave power to deliver energy which is enough to power a whole town of about 3,000 homes. The Aquamarine Power’s Oyster comes with hydraulics which transfer high pressure water to shore and convert it to electricity.
This electricity is then utilized by towns and thus this is one of the other ways of generating clean and green power. Spain, Portugal, Ireland, UK, US, South Africa, Australia and Chile are some of the countries where these Oysters could be installed in order to harness wave energy.
Each Oyster would save about 500 tons of carbon and thus keep the environment safe and clean. Also, the Oyster has been designed in order to withstand the power of waves. I guess this way we could see many other alternative sources of energy which are clean and green.
