WB5000 (sells in the US as the HZ25W) from Samsung - - 12.5 Mega Pixel Digital Camera With Ultra-Zoom Features

Samsung has introduced a new compact camera that packs ultra-zoom features. The semi-pro WB5000 (sells in the US as the HZ25W) uses a 26-624mm equivalent stabilized lens, which offers superior flexibility between close and distant coverages. However, the biggest draw from this little baby will probably come in the form of its 12.5-megapixel, 24x zoom capabilities.

With its advanced features and slew of manual controls, it’s obviously geared towards a more veteran audience — people who know the ins and outs of their camera. So if you’re looking for your first camera, it’s best to look elsewhere — this one’s for pros only.

Perhaps what’s most curious about the WB5000 is that it eschews an optical viewfinder completely, and solely uses an electronic one. But the 720p video capture feature should more than make up for this move (with 24x zoom, there’s little not to love). It also has ample software support that will help photographers get the most out of their shots.

Korea and some European nations will be the first to see the WB5000 in action. It’ll sell for around $566. US photographers will have to wait another month, when the HZ25W hits American shelves at $400.
