Smart Radiation Detector: Connect it with Apple iPhone Audio jack and Check the Radiation Levels Around You

The devastating combination of earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March this year, led to the most concerned event of nuclear reactor breaches that if gone unchecked could have resulted in a much higher casualty rate than the calamity itself. Learning from the experiences of Chernobyl and the breached Japanese nuclear reactors, a team of scientists and researchers has come up with a rather interesting product. The all new Smart Radiation Detector, is a small sized variant of the globally recognized Geiger counter and has been designed specifically for the Apple iPhone. Suppose you are in Japan and wish to know about the radiation levels permeating in the air, you can now get that information without having to spend enormous sums on a Geiger counter. The Smart Radiation Detector connects effortlessly to the iPhone’s audio jack and will instantly detect Beta and Gamma radiation levels.

Smart Radiation Detector

This incredible new iPhone accessory can also be used with Apple iPod Touch and iPad devices and the entire concept has been based on the utilization of PIN Photo-diode. This new technology, essentially eliminates the need of costly Geiger-Muller Tube and the detector itself has been designed to fit neatly in a matchbox or FRISK mint-box. The Smart Radiation Detector will be available for a mere $50 and the radiation detection application for iOS devices is available from Apple Apps Store for just $5. The project is currently under funding phase at KickStarter and the group envisions the development of 1000 plus units after gathering about $4375, which will be invested in the manufacturing as well as calibration testing processes.

SharkEye: iPhone Case - - Stylish, Protective and Water-resistant

When we purchase an iPhone, we usually buy a case alongside it to protect it from exterior and possible internal damage. There are some heavy-duty cases out there that can help save your phone from some pretty serious impact, but most of the time, your screen is still going to be exposed. Seeing as this is one of the most fragile parts of your phone, you think there would be more than just screen covers to take care of things. That’s why the SharkEye case is the best way to make sure your whole iPhone is protected, giving you the peace of mind you need for your glass screen.

SharkEye: iPhone Case
Inspired by the nictitating eyelids of sharks, this case will protect your vision of the screen much as is does for the eyes of our aquatic sharp-toothed friend. There is a sliding frosted door that will prevent anything from touching the screen. That being said, you can’t mess with your phone while the door is shut, but you can see what happening on the screen. This has a hard plastic shell, but an soft elastomer inner-lining that will absorb the impact if your phone hits the ground. All the ports of the phones are covered by a rubber plug, which likely means this is a splash proof and water-resistant case. You can take this case home with you for $49.95.

iPhone Photo Printer - - Crystal-clear Printouts Direct from Your iPhone

Seeing as the quality of photos that come out of newer smartphones are pretty decent, it makes pretty good sense that we use them to take a good portion of our photos. Holidays, birthdays, and special events have all amassed in photo form onto your device, and unless printed, will stay there forever. Sure, you can transfer photos to your computer and turn out some copies, but wouldn’t it be easier if there were a printer just for your phone?

The iPhone Photo Printer has a $159.99 price tag, but prints out crystal-clear 300 dpi resolution photos. The vibrant colors you will find in these photos are thanks to some patented paper that has yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals embedded within it. Each purchase is accompanied with a pack of paper that will give you about a dozen prints that are smudge-, tear-, and fade-proof, as well as water resistant. For those of you that own an Android-powered device, you will be happy to know that this will play nice with your phone as well.

iControlPad: A Real Physical Game pad For Your iPhone - - Bluetooth-enabled Pad Adds Physical Buttons to Your iPhone

There are a ton of iPhone games out there, but most of them have really annoying controls that are on the screen. I personally hate playing a game where I have to have my fingers on the screen because I can’t see most of the time. Bulky fingers and a small surface area are not fun. Needless to say, I’m pretty excited for the iControlPad which will hook up to any phone via Bluetooth which adds physical buttons to the iPhone and other devices.

It looks like a little bit of a mash-up from different gaming controllers, but it has four buttons, a D-pad, and two joysticks. You phone will slip into the top of the control pad, and is held in place with adjustable slides. This does work best with jailbroken iPhones, but can still work on keyboard mode. This runs on a 1500mAh battery and charges via USB. These will be up for grabs this month for about $75.

Nafrotiti: Egyptian Princess-inspired iPhone and iPad Case - - Designed by Artist Vince Fraser With Modern and Futuristic Look

The first reaction when you hear about a new iPhone and iPad case is negative because of an overload and you come out saying, not another one! But if you see this one, you will fall in love with it. White Diamonds is a new accessory case company that has released a stunning iPhone and iPad cases. The highlight of the collection is called Nafrotiti. The image on the case is inspired by the Egyptian princess Nefertiti.

The case has been designed by artist Vince Fraser to whom Nefertiti is the epitome of unique and extraordinary beauty. The artist has caught the essence of the beauty of Nefertiti very well and managed to make it very modern and glamorous. It has a very futuristic look and still it is unmistakably Nefertiti.

The technology employed is, of course, very modern. It is a combination of digital illustration with photomontage. The use of Swarovski elements with the photomontage is ingenuous. The artist has used it to create the impression of a crown and at the same time it creates a very futuristic look. This is definitely not just another case. It is as attractive as the Egyptian Princess and will create a space for itself in any market. The pricing details are awaited.

Agloves: Let You Work Your Touch-sensitive Tech in the Dead of Winter

Winter can be harsh with all of its cold and snow, especially for those of us that have smart phones. Why you ask? We have to strip gloves off every time we want to be able to use the thing, which is really inconvenient and hard on your hands. Sure they’ve made some gloves that have conductive nubs or weird nipples, but what if you could wear plain ole gloves? No annoying bits or bobbles attached to them to make them functional.

Some boulder-based enthusiasts with a little scientific know-how designed these awesome Agloves that will let you work your touch-sensitive tech in the dead of winter.  Using conductive silver-coated nylon fibers in the knit, you won’t have to worry about peeling a glove off in winter ever again. Just $17.99 a pair and they’re yours.

Octopus: iPhone Battery Charger - - Cool Enough to Keep You Going with Your Gadget

We all love portable chargers. This is a fact we have come to terms with in this fast paced world, as we don’t always have a couple of hours to find an free outlet somewhere that you can plant yourself next to. If you’re on your iPhone a lot and need to charge at some point without being stuck in a coffee shop for a good while, then you’ll want a good charger to keep you on the go. Sadly, the Octopus charger is not the one for the job.

Don’t get me wrong; it serves its purpose rather well. It can completely recharge your phone and has some nifty suction cups things on it, not to mention that is also the coolest color; which is black. BUT it is bulky, you must have a very specific case on your phone, or no case at all so it will stick to the suction cups, and has a looping tail part that things like headphones, and other random “bag stuff” can get stuck in…all the time.

This is definitely a cool product, but in all functionality purposes, it’s probably not the best purchase.  It’s about $30, so if you think it’s cool enough to put in your inventory, it’s not going to make you empty your wallet.

In the long list of iPhone chargers; we have already seen few bizarre ones. But the iPhone charger in the picture below is a combination of good and bad features. Dubbed as iFan, designed by Tjeerd Veenhoven, it features a huge fan on the top and claims to charge your iPhone using wind power.

A simple look at the picture above exposes it’s working, a PC fan works like a dynamo and charges your iPhone, sounds ridiculously nice; but before you fall in love with this little gadget, be informed that it might took  six long hours to charge the iPhone.

Until then you can use unique ideas to use this gadget optimally like strapping the fan with your bike on the go or holding it out of the window of your car when you’re off to a long drive.

“Gimme Power”: Unique iPhone Docking Station - - Hand-shaped Sculpture Designed by York Street Studio

Gadget chargers are usually characterized by ugly plugs and messy wires. The hyper hyped iPhone have seen a plethora of applications and docking stations but this kickass “Gimme Power” charger has surprised me. The uber stylish and yet functional device is shaped like a hand and gives one an impression that the hand itself is gawking at one of the Apple’s most roaring creation.

Crafted from Ceramic, this wasn’t intended to be a gadget in the first place rather just a sculpture designed by York Street Studio. The design firm is known for carving almost everything from leather-trimmed bathtubs to square brass doorknobs and thereby unleashes an element of surprise in everyday lives. It was the firm’s owner’s daughter who wished to bring some technology to this piece and the result as “Gimme Power” docking station for iPhone and iPod.

The unique docking station is available in choices of white and silver finish. The makers suggest that they are working on other color options too. They also believe that since messy cords and sockets are out of the picture here, the hand-alike gadget will also serve as an eye-catching paperweight. It’s a little pricey for $180, but that’s the premium one needs to pay for the offbeat design.
