Now OLED’s (organic light-emitting diodes) still have a way to go before it replaces LCD technology for televisions, but there’s little doubt they represent the future for TV. LG has recently made its offering on the OLED scene with its LG 15-inch OLED, which will debut in Korea in two months and in the UK next year. Germany will also be lucky enough to see it on store shelves in a matter of months.
The LG 15-inch OLED does sound a bit small for a TV, but what’s not to love about its less-than-1mm-thick display? It’s sleek, sexy, and definitely worth a spot in any living room around the world. There isn’t any news about the price tag yet, but with similar OLED’s hitting the shelves at US$4,000 and up, it’s likely only couch potatoes with deep pockets can afford this little baby.
LG has also been hinting at a 40-inch OLED offering sometime in the near future. Of course this is all speculation, but everything points to another Germany release. The rest of the world will have to wait, no matter how badly people would love to get their hands on their very own OLED.
