Along with the M9, Leica plans to release the X1 digital camera. The compact camera comes with a full metal body with leather trimming and features a LEICA ELMARIT 1:2.8/24 mm auto focus lens and a 12.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor that is common in large DSLR cameras.
Other features include a 2.7-inch rear LCD screen, a maximum ISO of 3200 and a Live View function that takes replaces the optical viewfinder. There are also a series of automatic modes available for the beginner photographer.
Pricing for the new camera will be announced closer to the official January 2010 launch date.
