No it’s not the name of a new steampunk novel, these are actual products. Uni-ball make a self turning mechanical (clutch) pencil called the Kuru Toga. The mechanism keeps the lead rotating so you don’t end up with a stupid chisel point that shatters when you pick it up and use it incorrectly. US$6.75
The Kuru Toga, on the other hand, has a core rotation mechanism that continually rotates the pencil lead as you write. The lead is twisted through a spring-loaded clutch, it works by twisting incrementally every time you lift the pencil up (i.e. during printing words, etc). This allows a uniform wearing of the pencil lead so that it always remains as a pointed tip.
On the flip side of the coin, there’s the Sakura Electric Eraser. This electric eraser powers through big mistakes easily, and from reading the Amazon reviews it’s also fairly long-lived and gentle on paper. US$35.96
This portable battery-operated electric eraser has a sleek, lightweight design that fits in your back pocket. The kit comes with two AAA batteries. Motor has strong torque and weighs only 2.6 ounces. Use for arts and crafts, drafting, architectural plans or wherever big mistakes are made. Remove marks and lines instantly with a gentle touch
