Lenovo Have Plans of Launching LePhone in China

It is stale news that Google and China don’t really get along well. The communist country and the capitalist company have been at loggerheads over the issue of censoring and copyrights infringement. Now that the news is done to death, it should come to us as a surprise that Lenovo is still planning to launch the Android powered LePhone in China.

China Unicom’s CEO Yang Yuanqing revealed that since Android is an open source based OS, it should not be very difficult to have a phone that runs on it, even if it means it would be unveiled in China. Various Google’s services have already been affected in China, and hence having Google Android OS on a phone could prove to be a major deterrent. However, Yang carefully noted that LePhone would have icons of major Chinese websites and refrained from commenting on the inclusion of Google services.

LePhone seems to be a well packed gadget too. It shall be made available in May and would come with an amazing 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen which would be crystal clear. Moreover, it would have other usual features such as Wi-Fi, 3MP camera and a great interface. It is not clear of this phone would be available outside China.
