The brainchild of industrial designer Cristian Polanco, AERO is a three-wheeled, mid-engine rear wheel drive electric vehicle for two people. The concept is based on the shapes of nature and in order to suit an ecological solution, the vehicle’s organic shape is inspired by air and water.
Simultaneously, the formal and functional aspects of the vehicle are not only influenced by elegance and simplicity found in the 1930’s era, but with the modern aspects found in Formula 1 cars. The body of the AERO is made with compressed polymers, which are easy to build and recycle.
The lightweight vehicle can reach high speed consuming a small amount of energy, which too is generated by the vehicle itself. Following nature, the vehicle is painted with colors that represent cleanliness.
The three-wheeled vehicle uses its set of front wheels to steer, and each one of these has an independent electric motor linked to the steering wheel by a wireless system. The steering wheel of this futuristic concept controls the output speed system using two buttons that can increase of decrease the AERO’s speed.
The self-sufficient vehicle can be recharged by three different systems. A wind power system harvests wind energy and uses it to recharge the onboard battery pack. Two solar panels located between the front wheels absorb daylight to power the batteries. When the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing, the vehicle can be recharged by plugging it into any source of 120V.
