iRiver B30 – Intelligent Media Player With Cool New Features

Worldwide, dedicated media player sales are declining but before you defer your next purchase, take a look at the uninspiringly named iRiver B30 (very painful Flash website Warning). It’s a 2.8″, 280 x 320 resolution portable media player with a bunch of cool features including a pair of SRS WOW compatible earphones that will play your music in faux 5.1 surround sound.

For those of you who live in the right places it can receive T-DMB (digital media broadcast), digital television reception and DAB+ digital radio. The B30 works brilliantly in iRiver’s homeland, South Korea but the DMB bit also works to some degree in Europe, China, Canada, Indonesia and Australia depending on which free-to-air digital television and/or digital radio standard your country is using. You may want to check it before you buy though.

DMB aside, it’s still a media player and it will play back MP4, DivX, XviD and H.264 video for 6 hours, or MP3, AAC, WMA and WAV audio for 40 hours. It comes in 8GB or 16GB versions and you can expand the storage via a microSD card. You can pick one up for around £139 for the 8GB version.

B30’s G-sensor enables the automatic screen rotation. When the device is tilted sideways while listening to music, the screen will change to album art display mode. When tilted on main menu, video, or photo album, it will automatically start for your immediate enjoyment
