The H1N1 virus, cause of the swine flu, that caused about of 2.200 deaths in 177 countries, became the most dominant influenza in the world, overcoming the seasonal (common) influenza, announced WHO on this Friday.
Up to now, the organization considered “probable” a domain of H1N1 starting from next winter in Northern Hemisphere. According to the data published by WHO on this Friday, the first pandemic of the century 21 caused the death of “at least 2.185 people” and 209.438 sick in more than 177 countries.
WHO detaches the capacity of propagation of the virus that will have a second wave reaching Northern Hemisphere, with the arrival of a colder station. Among the good news, notices that the laboratories that accompany the virus didn’t verify mutation for a more mortal form for human.
One of the premature problems for the organization is an overload in the services of health, due to serious cases. Among these last ones, an important proportion says respect to young and to people with good health, what differs of the seasonal influenza. WHO highlighted that in some cities of Southern Hemisphere, 15% of the hospitalized people had need to receive intensive cares.
Nowadays, the pandemic seems to decrease in most of the countries of Southern Hemisphere, (Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia) what is not the case in located nations in tropical (Asia and Central America) areas, where the propagation stays in “high level.” In Northern Hemisphere, the propagation of the influenza H1N1 “stays globally weak”, except for Japan.
According to the report, oseltamivir, the active principle of the antiviral Tamiflu, continues being efficient against the virus, with exceptions just in sporadic cases.
