DON'T RISK YOUR PET'S SAFETY!

Positioning Animals Worldwide Inc. (PAW) and the American Kennel Club Companion Animal Recovery Fund (AKC CAR) have combined their concern for the safety of our pets, and they have released an amazing innovation in GPS technology.

The SpotLight pet locator is a GPS device that attaches to your pet’s collar and allows you to track Fido or Fluffy when s/he runs away from home. Just set the parameters of your pet’s safe zone, and you will be alerted via text, email, or phone the moment your beloved furball flies the coop.

The SpotLight goes for about $250, with monthly service fees that range from $8 to $20, depending on your needs. That’s not bad when you consider all of the neat tricks your new dog collar can do.

The SpotLight gives you access to online maps that show the location of your pet, plus you can call the AKC CAR call centre for guided directions to Lassie’s location. Staff can also remotely activate SpotLight’s LED beacon, so you can even find Mittens in the dark.

Here’s another neat trick. If your pet begins traveling over 30 miles-per-hour, you will be alerted that it’s no longer on foot and may have been pet-napped! (Assuming, of course, that the idiot nabbing your precious doesn’t think to remove the 2.5 pound contraption on its collar. We can always hope.)

PAWS is offering special summer rates for the SpotLight’s 2009 release, so it’s a good idea to jump on this bandwagon fast. Great for protecting cats, dogs, and teenagers! We won’t mention the difference.
